Hello I am the current Director of Bega Preschool and we are organising an open day to celebrate 50 years of the Preschool’s operation. I am searching for historical photos of the preschool and also the old Springvale school. Thank you.
Hi Anne-Maree, please contact the Bega library directly on 6499 2127 or the Bega Valley Historical Society and Pioneers’ Museum ph. 6492 1453. Thanks and all the best with your 50 year celebrations!
Hello,
Thank you so much for your prompt reply. I will do as you suggested.
Kind Regards
Anne-Maree

My Great Grandmother Ann Little died November 11, 1862 and was buried in Original Bega Cemetery, Bega Library tells me there are no records for the Original Bega Cemetery, I have visited this library a couple of times, would it be at all likely that the Records do survive as I don’t know if my Great Grandmother had a headstone, who would be so careless to lose such important information.
Kind regards,
Glenn Shields”
I have now subscribed to the site and was hoping to be able to contact Glenn Shields as Ann Little is also my ancestor. Ann and her husband Thomas Little, came from Sligo, Ireland, lived in Hobart region from about 1832/4 and their youngest child Hugh Gilmore Little was born in Ashby Geelong in 1843.(8 children 2 deceased)
Most of their children remained in Victoria but it seems that Thomas, Ann, James and Robert ( widower) moved to Tantawangelo/Candelo area. Ann died in 1862 (death certificate), buried Bega. James Little married Elizabeth Tapper in 1863 at St Patrick’s Church, Bega. They had a Daughter Ann b 1864 in Bega, and moved back to Victoria, Indented Head, Daylesford, Barkstead, Korweinguboora.Thomas moved to the Boosey Burramine area and died 1883 – buried Yarrawonga Cemetery.
Robert Little had married Ann Gallahue in Vic in 1858 but she and their only child had died and he moved to the Bega area and took up with Elizabeth ‘s mother – Mary Jane Bourke /Tapper /Day who had separated from her 2nd husband (from Marcellus Day). Mary and Robert had a daughter (Ann Elizabeth in 1870) and they married 1881 (after Marcellus died in 1880) Robert was admitted to Liverpool Benevolent Asylum in 1894 and Mary died at Sutherland 1898.
Would love to hear from Glenn or anyone who has information about the Littles and Tappers (some Tappers were living in Candelo) and I can provide you with information that I have found
